I’m looking for some advice on what might be going on with one of my cats. I have two 2 year old cats that are brother and sister from the same litter. For the last month or so, we have noticed a lot more instances of vomiting undigested food in the mornings. Up until this point, vomiting has been an extremely rare occurrence. Because their automatic feeder goes off about the same time my alarm goes off in the morning, I never see which one of them it is and I’ve assumed that it was my girl cat who had tummy issues as a kitten. Last night, my boy cat threw up as he was eating. Like right back into the bowl. This is new as they get wet food at night and have only seen them vomiting dry food. He threw up another 3 times but was otherwise acting normal. Today, he was hanging out under our bed all day and wouldn’t come out until around dinner time. I gave them half of the portion of wet food I normally give them in each bowl to make sure he didn’t eat too much too fast. A while after those portions were finished and no vomiting, I put the rest in their bowls. He finished the rest in both bowls and immediately vomited it back up again. Again he’s acting normal otherwise.
I’m not sure if this is a case of food competition with having multiple cats so he’s eating too fast? Or if because he’s vomiting and not keeping any food in his stomach he’s just hungry and therefore scarfing it down too fast? I’m looking into getting slow feeding mats but he tends to also eat a lot of my girl cats portion of food too if she leaves it for too long. I could try separate feeding, but I had to do this as kittens for my girls prescription food and they would just refuse to eat at all.
I’m calling my vet tomorrow (closed today) for insight but wondering if anyone has experienced something similar. TIA!
