Tonsilitis three months in a row with current inflammation 4th. Need help ENT and dermatologist!
M25 160lbs 6ft. Psoriasis taking taltz.
I’ve been taking taltz for psoriasis since December. One of the side effects is increased susceptibility to upper respiratory infections since it lowers immune system in some cases.
I have had cases of tonsil pain and inflammation that lasts about two weeks minimum every month since February. So one case in February, another in March, another in April, and currently in May over the weekend my throat/back roof of mouth has been hurting with a sharp pain. (This time source doesn’t feel like tonsils though the entirety of tonsils and back of throat are pretty red). Saw an ENT and they just tested me for strep (was negative). So now we’re just waiting and seeing if it’s a virus to go away on its own before they prescribe antibiotics.
For my other cases I was given augmentin each time. One case needing two rounds. So far this year I’ve had a total of four complete rounds of augmentin.
Also been tested for hiv and stis and herpes and mono. All were negative except mono showed I had positive in the past though not currently.
I’ve been told I can not have a tonsillectomy until I have 7 cases of tonsillitis this year. I am very tired of constant throat and tonsil pain and pills and stupid medical bills. They tell me to come in and don’t tell me anything new each time I see them and it feels pointless.
Getting a tonsillectomy isn’t something I really want unless I have to as I know recovery can be awful and I have doubts that it would even solve everything and could potentially create more problems. Would it actually solve everything?
Can anyone help me or offer any advice on what I can do?
