We own a 2026 Toyota Sienna Platinum and we’re interested in buying a pair of eBikes that we could haul on a trailer hitch bike rack, but it seems that’s easier said than done.
I inquired with my local Toyota dealership’s Parts Department about adding a trailer hitch, but they tell me that there is no such part for the Platinum. I’m guessing that’s due to the kick sensor, but we’re alright with removing the kick sensor in order to have a trailer hitch. Surely, some enterprising Sienna Platinum owner has already overcome this problem. My question is, how?
Additionally, assuming I can overcome the trailer hitch problem, any recommendations on these secondary considerations are also appreciated:
o what size trailer hitch to get (e.g. 1 1/4”, 2”, etc.)
o what type (or brand/model) of bike rack to get.
o any resources to help us select which eBikes or bike rack to get.
