My 6yo son has hyperactive/impulsive ADHD. We were somewhat hopeful to try meds, so gave him 5mg short lasting Ritalin today for the first time after consulting with his doctor.

No immediate positive effect in the first 4 hours- if anything he was more hyper/impulsive and talkative.

Now 8 hours later (assume meds are out of his system)- he is being ultra emotional and fixated on wanting a credit card (what??). He is crying uncontrollably. I’ve read about post meds “crash” but that is super intense. I don’t recognize him.

Could this mean wrong type of med? Wrong dosage? I’d be worried to try higher dose seeing this. Won’t do anything without consult this doc obviously but wanted to see if anyone had experienced this.
