Hey r/hockeyplayers,
Quick background: I played junior hockey back in the day and my family had no connections in the recruiting world. We were the family that had no idea what Jr A leagues were. It’s embarrassing to even say that we thought high school would feed college when I was a sophomore. Luckily I played in front of the right people at the right time ultimately getting drafted to the NAHL .The kids with well-connected parents had already prepared, networked, trained all for what I was just learning about. This is why I built BreakawayAI.

I’ve been building BreakawayAI a recruiting CRM for players and parents navigating the AAA → junior → college pipeline. It tracks which programs you’re talking to and what stage you’re at, gives you real intelligence on programs instead of just a directory, helps draft coach outreach emails, surfaces the exposure events that actually matter, and is being built around the new NCAA/CHL eligibility rules that most families still don’t fully understand.
BreakawayAI is live and in BETA stage and I hoping to hear from the community. I’m specifically looking for feedback from:
•Players (or parents) in the AAA → junior pipeline
• Junior players with 1 or more years before transitioning to college
• Anyone trying to figure out CHL options after the 2025 eligibility change
Happy to answer anything in the comments — I want honest feedback from people actually in it, not polished testimonials.
