I was tired of manual flashcards, so I built an app that auto-generates GIFs and audio for your word lists.
Hey everyone,
I’m a huge language learning fan, but I’ve always had a massive problem: trying to memorize a new language through plain text is incredibly boring and, honestly, pretty ineffective for me. Without hearing the word or seeing a visual representation, it just doesn't stick.
So, I decided to build FlashBack.
The core idea is simple: instead of just reading a word, you experience it.
- Audio + Visuals: Every card combines sound and GIFs/images. It creates a much stronger mental anchor than text alone.
- Spaced Repetition (SRS): It uses an algorithm to show you the cards exactly when you’re about to forget them.
- Your own lists: You can build your own vocabulary lists or jump into existing ones.
I built this specifically because I needed it for my own study sessions, but I’ve finally polished it enough to share with others.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on the flow. Does the audio-visual combo make sense to you, or do you prefer the old-school minimalist way?
