Hey everyone, I’m looking for some honest insight from people who’ve gone through the clearance process before because I’ve been stressing hard over this situation.
I recently got offered what was basically my dream entry-level cybersecurity job that required a security clearance. During the process, I was told my interim clearance was denied because of a private student loan that went into collections / became delinquent. 2–4 months for the full clearance adjudication process to finish. Which is okay because i understand that was my responsibility. Good news is i can have a spot once the clearance goes through.
My main question is:
Has anyone here had an interim denied for financial reasons but still ended up getting their full Secret clearance approved later?
I know finances are a big factor because of coercion concerns, but I’m hoping one delinquent private student loan isn’t automatically the end of everything, especially since I’m actively trying to address it. I paid the overdue balance and working on paying on time each month, im just a very anxious person tbh.
Also the loan amount was $5,000
