I (Black creole, 29) am dating a white person (27) and while it's rooted in love and shared interests, some part of me feels like I'm missing out. Whenever I see POC couples (especially POC interracial couples)...I get a little envious. It feels like that kind of relationship would have none of the subtle issues I've faced, like my partner feeling like having green eyes makes them inherently more attractive, or me always noticing who does or doesnt make room on a crowded sidewalk (it's almost never the white folks), or even feeling like I have to be the one who notices this stuff. Race doesn't seem like a good reason to get into OR out of a relationship, though...so should I just suck it up? Idk does anyone else deal with anything similar?
