context: I go to an amazing university for cs/math/stats, however there is not a formal co-op program. I just finished my first year (doing an internship at a huge startup this summer) and was wondering if completing an internship at something like shopify (as an off-cycle internship) was worth it if i had to delay my grad by like one semester?

my parents are heavily against it and think that focusing on school and finishing the degree as fast as I can is much more important, because the degree will get me the job 😭😭 because apparently it is a signal to employers that I am capable.

i just need to know if it is worth it for something like shopify after finishing the first year. any advice would be appreciated, thanks sm
