Micromanaging Manager in the Deli

I started in the Deli in January this year.

We had a Manager and an Assistant Manager.

The Manager had quit sometime in February because he was apparently wrote up for something he didn’t do. I don’t know but it sucked because he was pretty decent to talk to despite not training me properly.

So for a while, our assistant Manager had to deal with a lot by herself. Despite all that bs she had to endure without even asking for it, she’s still the sweetest and most understanding person ever, but she can’t be there all the time, and there’s only so much she can do. She already knows about what we’ve all been dealing with.

After Easter, a new Manager started and she is nothing nice. Literally everyone I’ve spoken to about it has complained that she is a pretty bad micromanager. She is lazy. She’s stuck up. She’s rude and bossy as hell and she uses people from what I’ve heard and experienced.

She is only 4 years older than me and she talks to me like I’m a disobedient child despite me always doing as I’m asked, and finishing their stupid Grab and Go list, plus replenishments she insists on me doing despite so much being thrown out every single day, because they always gotta have more.

I take a lot of pride in my work ethic so of course I’ve made the mistake of being too useful just to avoid trouble. I’m also very bad about speaking up for myself due to my anxiety, so it’s easy for people like her to walk all over me.

I’m never late and I never call out. I do what I’m told. I never argue back. I’ve even tried being nice to this Manager and nothing seems to work. Talking to her about anything is like confessing to a crime.

Now a switch has gone off in my brain and I’m over it. I had a four hour shift today. I came in, did everything I was told to do and I still got berated like a child. She expected me to man the line, which I do a lot by myself, replenish grab and go, take down all the slicers but one, click list orders, take the trash (not just once but twice, since in her words “We can’t do that to the person who’s job it is to take the trash since she isn’t helping us with customers. She just has to single me out instead like I don’t already have enough on my plate.

There were two other workers, one making salads and the other talking to the one making salads and she approached me of all people. Not to mention, I couldn’t even finish sweeping because she had me check dates less than ten minutes before my shift ended.

I’m so over her and I’m over this place. It went from making me feel anxious and depressed, to just straight out pissed off. I’m done feeling like I have to walk on eggshells at my own job because of one piece of shit on a power trip.

My sister in law used to work for the fuel center at my Kroger but quit today because both Management and the union did nothing about her being constantly bullied and cussed at by her coworkers. So I don’t trust anybody.

At this point I’m so ready to quit and tell the bitch to figure it out herself. F her and f this place and f all these a$$hole customers.

I’ve been applying to other jobs like crazy but it takes f-king forever to find anything.

That’s my rant.
