did i fry my new 48v 100ah battery BMS

was setting up my battery to my inverter when i accidentally shorted the positive to the negative for like 20 seconds it had a big spark then welded the terminal to the lug but i pulled it off easily,

the issue is before i was even able to test my inverter the short happened and so when i hook the battery up to the inverter the inverter turns ons every time for only 2 seconds then slowly fades out

was reading some different things online some saying bms is 100% fried and others say just charge the battery to get it out of safety lock mode

not sure looking to see if someone knows this stuff some other information is when i put a multimeter between the B- and P- it red .5v
between the posts still reads 52.5 but when i hook it up to the inverter, the inverter and battery volts drop all the way down to 8 but then slowly climb back up to 52.5 after a minute or so
