Renunciation of citizenship
Hi all, I have obtained Singapore Citizenship. Had some queries on how to renounce and when to renounce.
So the date I got the email from the local authorities here was on 20 March and I have gotten approval after completing the formalities here on 7th May. The authorities here told me not to renounce it on 20th March.
Here’s the problem I have. I’ll be travelling to India till the end of May. Would there be any issues if I’d just renounce my Indian citizenship after my trip? I don’t have a Singapore passport as of yet.
I read up on this SubReddit that I’d have 3 months from the date of approval so I’d like to check if that 3 months starts from 20th March or 7th May.
Another question I have is would I just have to submit an application within 3 months or complete the entire process within 3 months as it’s stated on the HCI site of Singapore that it could take up to 70 days.
Would appreciate some guidance on this. Thanks! :)
