Seeing the uk by train- WCML question
My family is visiting from the US late summer. We will start in London, take the ECML up to visit York, Durham and Edinburgh using the Brit Rail Pass. I was going to go back down the ECML and then to Oxford before returning to London for a couple of days.
I would like to take the WCML back and just go straight to Oxford rather than to London and back, mainly for a chance to see more of the country as we go. I’ve seen posts about the east west line that remains unopened. Without that, would you get off at Coventry and take a train/hire a car to Oxford? Is there a station that would be better to allow for a quick stop in the Cotswolds or somewhere else we should see in the area for a short visit before we head on to Oxford?
