I will keep this as condensed as possible, so I don't bore people.
We began a kitchen renovation back in July. For finance reasons and because he is very particular, my husband is overseeing all of it and doing a great deal of the work. He is meticulous.
His uncle is an old French Canadian cabinet-maker by trade. Our kitchen is small and he was willing to customize the space for us and make it as useable as possible. We agreed to have him do the cabinets. He couldn't comprehend a slim shaker door-front and agreed that we should have someone else fabricate them.
That is where the endless struggle began. We havent had any success with companys that were willing to sell us custom-sized door fronts. He has reached out to multiple.
We thought we found a cabinet maker who would formulate them out of a material (the name of which eludes me at the moment but similiar to MDF.) We were concerned that wood doors will warp and leave gaps in the edge piece, hence the other material.
This cabinet maker has ghosted us, it seems. He has not responded to husband's texts. We have not given him any money. I have to assume he is no longer interested in fabricating the drawer-fronts.
This project needs to end. It's been ten months. We are at our wits end.
Does anybody have any suggestions for drawer/door fronts that are easy to purchase and we can have painted with the cabinet boxes? The boxes are done. I am looking now at flat-front doors. The uncle knows a few styles but they are all very dated.
I am at a loss. I'm trying to help my husband find a solution. He's been trying so hard to make this what we wanted. Never did I ever think it would go this way.
So, if you've read this and have any helpful ideas or suggestions, I am all ears. Thanks.
