Happy May Day gumshoes.  Taking a break from watching the slow, painfully stupid decline of the US empire to talk about a union on strike.  Someone close to me is involved with the UIC GEO graduate student union, which is currently on strike for a fair wage among other demands.  Breakthrough News covered the strike where Micaela and Macy laid out their situation better than I could.

If you have some time and you're in the Chicago area, consider going down to the UIC campus and joining the picket line. The picket locations are posted to their website every morning, you'll meet some pretty rad people. They also have a strike fund if you want to help their membership keep the lights on.
