Saw a foot and ankle specialist today following on from a rerupture just over 2 weeks ago
Long and short is that they had a good look at my foot and it's in a pretty good place, he could manoeuvre it pretty freely without any pain, no dip in the tendon, and passed the thompson test, even with reduced movement.
He was skeptical that I would've fully ruptured it again and may have sprained it as in his experience it's very rare for a rerupture to occur again as quickly as it did, personally I think I did but it's not really relevant to the recovery at this point anyway, as he didn't see it at the time he can't categorically diagnose it either way, and any imaging wouldn't reveal much other than confirmation that a rupture had happened at some point, which we already know, so it's business as usual for 4 weeks.
Then he'll see me again and get me set up with some physio, and depending on how I do with that, best case is I crack on getting my strength back, worst case is they may have to do a "reconstruction" which he stressed to me is different to a repair but stopped short of the details as it didn't seem relevant just yet.
Cleared me for full weight bearing and to remove a wedge today, another Friday and then continue weekly until flat, trying to avoid use of the crutches as much as possible and even better he took me off the blood thinning injections and prescribed tablets instead hooray!
