Dyson V8 vs Shark PowerDetect vs Dyson V11 for a small apartment?
Hi all,
Need some vacuum advice for a small 1 bedroom apartment in Canada. I probably only have ~2 years left in the country, so I’m trying to avoid overspending. No pets or kids, no shoes inside, but I do have hard wood floors, carpets/rugs and couches I’d like to vacuum regularly. I’ll probably only vacuum for around 15–30 mins every other day.
Currently deciding between:
- Dyson V8 Origin (~CAD 350 on sale, though I’d probably need to buy a couple attachments)
- Shark PowerDetect without the self-empty dock (~CAD 450 on sale)
- Maybe stretching to a Dyson V11 (~CAD 600)
I know the V8 is older/basic now, but I’m wondering if the Dyson quality/suction and 50 CAD less still makes it worth it over the Shark.
At the same time, not sure if I’d actually notice enough difference between the V8 and V11 for light/moderate apartment cleaning.
Would appreciate opinions from people who’ve used these — especially regarding reliability, battery degradation, maintenance, and overall value in this kind of use case.
