I’m 23 years old and I work as a material planner and a medium sized private company. I make around 55k a year and I’m not struggling financially but I really feel like I should be making 10k more . Starting out I was happy with it, because I was learning so much. But now after working in my role for almost a year I’m feeling really burnt out and underpaid for what I have to put up with. I won’t go into too much detail but my department only has 3 people and we buy all of the materials that is used in production at our facility. Demand is going up and the supply is only getting tighter and the other departments aren’t doing anything to make our jobs easier. Most days I work around 8.5-9 hours and really don’t take much of a lunch break because of the workload. My supervisor has been begging upper management for another planner basically since I started. I’m having an annual review for a raise and I’m really thinking about asking for an extra 10k. I know I’m only 1 year into my career and a 10k raise is unrealistic unless you’re in management. However I can’t help but feel I have no equity in this company , and that me and the other planners are so undervalued. My rent is going up fs when my lease ends so would it be bad to job hop this early on if I can’t get a significant raise? I dont want it to come to that because if I left I’d throw my coworkers to the wolves with the amount of work we have rn.
