If 'Hikaru' has developed a sense of self, shouldn't he be able to refuse to follow people's wishes and stuff? She keeps seeing him as a thing.. she thinks he doesn't value human life which we know he's changed his views on that.. I wonder if he has changed enough to gain agency over his instincts and nature... I really hope his answer is just a big fat: "no".
