He was from a small village in Scotland and joined the British army during the 2nd boar war and served with the "Blackwatch" for the entire duration of the 2nd boar war and saw quite a bit of combat. He singed up again in ww1 and volunteered to go to the western front but was denied due to age and medical reasons. To my knowledge he served on coastal defenses for most of the war
Years back my dad was offered this musket for around 300 that was found in the attic of a old Farmhouse. It belonged to a gentleman who served in the Civil War. Seeing as it was found in Maine im assuming it belonged to a Maine Regiment. I tried to get the family information but it was lost unfortunately. Its completely original and has its matching orginal bayonet. The marking are a little hard to see but I just got it in my custody so i plan to do a full cleaning without damaging or replacing anything. Fair to say it will probably never fire a shot but its a really neat wall hanger none the less
