Return to Sunfolk @ St Albans

So we Decided to give a Nudist campsite a go as we had a steady warm week.
My partner and I travelled to St Albans earlier this month and stayed over for a night. The day was nice and sunny, with just a bit of light rain in the evening (2/3 May 2026). This was our second visit, and since it’s a little over an hour’s journey for us, we don’t come here very often. we booked a pod on Friday and set off on Saturday morning.

https://sunfolk.bn.org.uk/

It’s a good-sized enclosed campsite with options for camping, glamping pods, tents, and spa day visits. It’s owned and run by British Naturism. Membership isn’t required, but as a non-BN member you need to book at least one day in advance. It’s a great place for newcomers.

The spa facilities are fully nude, while the rest of the site is more clothes-optional depending on the weather. That said, once you’re settled in and the weather is good, you’ll naturally prefer to remain unclothed like everyone else.

There are options for both camping and glamping. Usually, couples like us stay overnight, while many singles tend to visit for the day.

All the pictures are of me or my partner, we were mindful not to include anyone else without their consent. We enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi together, but also split off at times to do our own thing. My partner is now a confident nudist and happily wanders around, whether it’s heading to the sauna, shower, or just relaxing, while I might be swimming or sitting in the jacuzzi.

She’s also very good at starting conversations with other nudists, which really helps break the ice and makes the experience more enjoyable. I feel genuinely happy to have her with me on these outings. We’ve even had a few single men say they haven’t yet managed to convince their partners to try naturism, which made us appreciate our shared experience even more.

The crowd is a mix of mostly mature people with some younger visitors too. You’ll almost always find someone to chat with—whether in the kitchen, lounge, or spa areas. Going with a partner is ideal if you’re looking for a shared experience, but it’s equally suitable for anyone who prefers to relax quietly on their own.

The place attracts both couples and singles, and at any given time there may be around 20 or so people. It becomes quieter in the evening as day visitors head home. the place was reasonably busy and didn't feel deserted or too crowded either. we went on our little walk in the woods, swam in the pool and sat in the grass to soak the sun.

The whole site is spread across a few acres and enclosed with a wooden fence, giving you a real sense of privacy and freedom.

Usual nudist etiquette applies—respecting personal space, asking before approaching, and being mindful with photos. The site is run by BN wardens who are always around, helpful, and easy to chat to if needed.

Overall, it was a great experience. The grounds are lush with a large grassy area, a lovely woodland walking track, and even a campfire spot. There’s a good-sized heated pool, jacuzzi, showers, and sauna. the Sauna is turned on at 2 pm in the afternoon and switched off at around 8 PM along with the Jacuzzi unless there are people currently using them. The lounge is spacious, with dining tables, sofas, a pool table, and shelves full of board games and books. There’s also a decent decking area, a TV room, and a well-equipped kitchen with all the essentials.

You can bring your own food and heat it up, or buy items from the self-service counter—there are snacks, pizzas, ice cream, and more available in the fridge.

Since it’s just over an hour’s drive for us, we were able to enjoy most of the sunshine on arrival day, and even relax a bit before leaving the next day. The jacuzzi photos were taken on the day of departure.

It’s highly recommended for first-time visitors, whether you’re going alone or thinking of trying it with your partner.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask in this thread and follow the sub rules—I’ll be happy to answer.

Rule 4 of the sub is (No Personal Ads or “Looking For Friends”)

Details

Please don’t use the subreddit to look for naturist friends, dates, or meetups.

This space is for open discussion and sharing experiences, not personal contact requests.

We put this rule in place as we get loads of posts every week saying "single person looking for naturist "friends" or people posting looking for "like-minded" friends and personal adds. But we don't want to prevent people posting about events and genuine group activities that can help get people involved in naturism. So I would appreciate the communities view. Does it need modifying? What do you all think?
