I don't like Daphne Greengrass
Please note that this is not a personal attack to anyone who puts Daphne in their fic or those who enjoy reading stories about her.
I just can't like this character at all. Every time she appears in a fic, I automatically roll my eyes. There were instances where I was enjoying a fic, but stopped reading when I realized Daphne Greengrass was going to play a role in the story.
First reason, she was barely in the series, and that's being generous. I can't even remember where her name was mentioned, let alone where she had a dialogue or did something. And yet, she's featured so prominently in so many fics.
Second reason, often times, Daphne feels like a shoe horned OC that the writer put in with the sole purpose of giving Harry a love interest. At least with other ships with Harry, at least the character has traits of their canon self. Because Daphne barely had any role in the series, it feels like at best a poorly written OC, and at worst a Mary Sue. She's the supposed "Ice Queen of Slytherin(I don't even know where this started)", she's a Slytherin but not like others, somehow Harry trusts and falls in love with her immediately despite barely having any interactions.
There. That was my rant against this character. Again, I'm not attacking anyone who enjoys stories with her. I just cannot for the life of me see what the appeal is.
