Why do you prefer pencils over other things, and what do you use them for?

I’m the kind of person who’s always switching between pencils, mechanical pencils, ballpoint pens, fountain pens, and pretty much anything you can imagine. Right now, I’m going through a pencil phase, and I was curious to ask why you guys choose pencils over pens or mechanical pencils. I’d also love to know what you use them for. It’s a good thing I’m not a cat, otherwise curiosity would have killed me by now haha

I'm not in love with the kuru toga

I recently bought this Kuru Toga thinking it would be great, but I was surprised to find that you have to apply a lot of pressure (more than I’m used to) for the mechanism to function properly.

I just wanted to share this in case someone else who doesn't write with much pressure is considering buying one, so they can take it into account. I’m glad I didn’t buy a more expensive version because I don’t think I’d buy another one.
(It's not hate or anything, it just doesn't work for me)

What are you using your lead holders for?

Does anyone here use them for writing or solving math/physics problems? I mostly see them being used for drawing, so I’m curious about other use cases.

My first fountain pen. I was skeptical at first, but after several hours of trying it out, I'm getting used to it. I think the hardest part about using one for the first time is not pressing as hard as you do with regular pens.

I also bought Lamy ink, but I'll try the cartridges first.

By the way, it cost me about $24, and from what I see on Amazon US, it's around $10 or so. I guess that's the downside of living in a developing country, right? And they didn't have any finer nibs either; I would have liked an F.
