I’m new to fishing and I’m wondering what the essentials are for a good beginner tackle box. I was gifted a small tackle box kit with some lures and bobbers and such. This is what my box looks like now. What should I add for some good catches in Michigan where I live? We have SM and LM bass, catfish, crappie, trout, walleye, etc.

I’m new to fishing and I just got a new tackle box and I have no clue what this thing is. Can someone explain to me what it is, what it does, and how to use it? It has like a loop on one and and what looks to be a spike or something on the other end.
