Is “I hope to see you soon” at the end of an interview a bad sign?
Hi, I’m not a native English speaker, so I might be misunderstanding the nuance.
I had a university admission interview today, and the professor didn’t really explain any next steps, schedule, or program details. They just ended the interview with something like, “I hope to see you soon.”
At first, I thought it might be a positive comment, but now I’m worried it could just be a polite way to end the conversation without meaning much — or even a bad sign.
Does this phrase ever carry a negative nuance in interviews? Or is it generally neutral or positive?
I’d really appreciate any insight, especially from people familiar with academic interviews.
