Since This Sub is Having a Ranking Phase Again, I Decided to Overthink my Ranking
I tried my best to include every studio Nightwish song I could think of, but this is my untiered ranking of every Nightwish song to my personal tastes, meaning that as of posting this, my opinion is that each song I have listed is put in a place where, overall, I prefer it to every song numerically below it. No matter how I did this, my opinion was going to be a hot take to someone, so I just tried to be as honest as possible in my rankings and not worry what may come as a reaction. I did this in many sessions over the course of a few weeks, and even just in the time between adding albums to the ranking list, I ended up changing my opinions on where songs would be ranked, so if there's anything that's guaranteed, it's that my opinions (I'd wager even that all our opinions) are fluid and will constantly change as time passes.
I also decided to take each song and assign its rank number as its value, then find out what the average rank number of each album would be by assigning it a score based on averaging the rank numbers of each of its tracks, including its bonus tracks. This was extremely surprising to me, as this is not how I'd rank the albums if I were to just do it off the dome. I didn't expect Endless Forms Most Beautiful to be so high, and I really didn't expect Wishmaster to be so low, I'd have put it near the top just off the cuff.
Feel free to disagree with my rankings, feel free to tell me what you believe to be ridiculous, or a justified hot take, and even tell me what you think this ranking says about my music preferences if you so desire. I'll try and justify my takes that I feel more strongly about as they come, but just keep in mind that every song above 130 I do enjoy and have a genuine care for at least to one extent or another, so just because a song is on a lower percentile, doesn't mean I dislike it. It was personally disheartening to see certain songs as low as they are, but still resign myself to knowing that I couldn't personally justify placing them any higher.
