I’ve been leasing a house with two others for a year and a half, the lease has moved to month to month 6 months ago. I gave 3 months notice of leaving (only 2 required) and said I’d vacate the house by May 31st. Here’s the thing, the landlord promised the basement tenants my room for May 1st (double dipping) even though I’ve paid up until May 31st. I’m trying to compromise and said id vacate early for a half month rent back but he’s refusing that but pushing me to let them move in. My question here is can I have the room empty as long as he’s got my money for May and I pay my 1/3 of utilities for May?
