need advice

hi all. i recently started at the distribution center as sanitation general help. the job is really good for the most part, the pay, pto, the people etc. the only gripe i have is how they treat newer employees. first off, i really hate the bid system for the different jobs as i find it unfair if you haven’t been here for that long as its seniority based so newer people (like me) or people who’ve only have a few years under their belts are essentially locked out of ever winning a bid job. i’ve only been here for a few months now so i know i wont get as much as people who’ve been here for 10+ years. but the higher ups dont seem to want to train anyone on anything. i’ve been asking to learn some other stuff thats a little more time consuming and more moving parts but nothing is happening. im still getting stuck on small jobs that take maybe only 4 hours so i have to really stretch out these jobs or walk around wondering what to do for the next 7.5 hours. is this common?? what should i do and how do i go about it??

any advice/answers would be greatly appreciated
