Broken screw
My good friend had an ankle injury following a snowmobile accident February 2025 (I actually filmed the whole thing happening which went kind of viral on social media). He had surgery to repair it (first picture). The second picture is recent, showing how the long screw holding the fibula/tibia together has broken causing the bones to separate. He was told he needs surgery again. I told him yes this is correct, I’m an RN but not familiar with ortho so any feedback for him would be appreciated. He was also told the screw breaking is a common occurrence in this type of surgery. If he does get surgery again, what would be the plan? Complete fixation?
