Psycho – I am really surprised they haven’t at least run with this in Dead by Daylight or another horror game. But the meek Norman Bates himself isn’t the one we fear but ‘mother’ herself. The problem is everyday gameplay. We have the house, the swamp and the motel. But we need a central character to catch Norman/Mother and a new twist, given how well-known the ending is.
American Psycho – Not a chance they will unleash this on the public. Not with all we can read in the book. Won’t happen and can’t happen. It would be the type of game to bring the clouds of regulation and censorship down on the industry. An indie studio could try but if you think Manhunt had heat, a Patrick Bateman game (whether you play as him or not) is a non-runner.
One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest: Escaping the mad house while neutralising the orderlies while playing as Randal Patrick McMurphy. A stealth and action game (a mental health Metal Gear Solid) with Nurse Ratched (Louise Fletcher and not Sarah Paulson) being the final boss. Doesn’t have a hope with today’s sensibilities on mental health, let alone revealing why McMurphy ended up there in the first place.
Plane ride from Hell DLC
This DLC will feature all of the participants of the infamous 2002 plane ride from hell, including Scott Hall, Goldust, Mr Perfect Curt Hennig and Brock Lesnar. But the main event has to be Ric Flair. This will be a tribute to the days when Ric Flair was never held accountable by WWE and when Scott Hall and Curt Hennig had proven to have outlived their usefulness (hence their firing afterwards). But above all else, the Plane Ride from Hell is one of the last areas of DLC that WWE cannot exploit for extra cash.
The steroid Trial DLC
In this DLC, the wrestlers are skinnier than ever, and money is down. Ultimate Warrior looks unrecognisable. So much so, rumours circulate that Jim Hellwig died and was replaced by a new Warrior (which wasn’t true). This DLC will be miserable, fan reaction will be down no matter what happens, and Bret Hart will be replaced by anyone who has a bit of roidless bulk and doesn’t look nervous on the mic. You win the DLC by surviving the paycuts and the lower fan reactions. You put up with celebrities and footballers in your Pay-Per-View main events.
Montreal Screwjob DLC
This is the DLC that will feature everyone from Jim Cornette, Vince Russo, Bruce Prichard, Pat Patterson and Gerald Briscoe. We will have Cornette ranting and raving while Briscoe, Vince McMahon and Hebner do their best to make sure Shawn Michaels is prepped for the biggest controversy inside the ring. It is the story that has been done to death, but the anti-Bret Hart mob will no doubt derive a lot of joy, and the Bret Hart fans will play this as we plan to run this with Hart as the hero.
Getting home from Saudi DLC
This DLC will feature you as a WWE agent trying to get the wrestlers stuck in Saudi Arabia home. Based on the real-life events (which are disputed) but nonetheless we have a story here that can play out. Sometimes, you just need to wait on the bosses to sort these things out while you keep the talent calm on the runway and avoid them getting into any trouble that could damage the partnership keeping the company awash with cash.
