Bethor: my own experience
I decided to read the Arbatel Grimoire, and after a first reading I tried to make the practice my own. Something akin to what a Chaos magician might do, I suppose. I did not approach Bethor from the Christian perspective presented in the Grimoire, but rather tried to do so from a neutral and unbiased standpoint.
First, as a follower of Hecate, I tried to use Hecate as an entity mediating as an authority between Bethor and myself. But I felt very clearly that it was as if a great torrent of water had to pass through a small pipe. The flow of energy was very slow, very restrained. It was very clear that Hecate was ‘choking’ it. By this I mean that I had surrounded the seal with a series of Hecate’s epithets of authority.
I felt I should then work solely with Bethor’s seal, and the difference was staggering—it was like night and day.
Asfor the procedures, I tried to follow them exactly; I didn’t do everything my own way.
So far, my experience with Bethor has been a very vegetative expansion, if you’ll pardon the expression. Not like an explosion radiating in all directions. But like a plant that grows slowly, spreading its roots and shoots in all directions, but without haste, without strain.
In fact, after the first ritual, the immediate vision I had was of a plant, growing from the centre of a rock, amongst its cracks, growing and growing from within until it caused it to burst. A small plant, from within, caused a rock weighing tonnes to burst.
This is my experience so far. The month isn’t over yet; I started on Thursday 12 March, at the first hour of Jupiter, so a 30-day cycle hasn’t been completed.
I should also mention that the following has happened:
-Opportunities, doors, paths and windows have appeared, but not all were mine or passable. However, it is true that opportunities in the world of work and in some other areas have multiplied. This made me think that there really are always many options out there, right in front of us, but it is up to us whether we choose them or not.
- I faced situations such as attending job interviews or applying for roles and sectors I had never imagined.
- I’ve had to develop a different ability to tell whether that door, or opportunity, resonated with me. To know what I truly want, because otherwise, it’s genuinely stressful to find yourself surrounded by 30 options, all with their pros and cons, and not knowing which one to choose.
So far, this has been my experience with Bethor. I’ve read about other practitioners getting great opportunities within two days or things like that, and in my case, everything has worked out much more organically. I have had miraculous calls, but weeks have had to pass since the ritual.
