Is there a way to try out working on a ship?
Hi everyone! I'm a 30-year-old looking for a career change and very interested in the merchant navy. I'm UK based, and it seems the way to get into the job is to do a 2 year training course. I'm fine with that, but as I have never worked on a ship before, it seems risky to quit my current (decent) job to jump into something that I might discover I actually don't like. I was wondering if there is any way to get some experience of working on a ship before committing to that? Whether it's a short training course, or a very junior job that doesn't need training - just a way to experience what it's like.
Thank you!
And well done to all of you for all your hard work out on these seas!
