Reflections on year 7
First year (Summer) washing windows I did it in my flip flops. The other day I brought my son to a job with me and showed him the ropes. He’s already doing better than I did my first summer and the little dude is only 3.
That first summer I washed windows in my flip flops I only had one person, this rude old German lady, make a stink about it, and I played it cool and just did my thing and I saw her for a few years after the fact and a sign of personal growth was that it took everything in me to not be a smartass back to her. The smartass remark in my head at the time was that if me wearing sandals while I worked was so offensive, she could go up the street from where she lived and here in the PNW we have naked women who serve hot coffee out of coffee stands. Poor Helga would have a heart attack if she saw those gals at the lewd stands, and thank God I’ve never been because when I worked that part of town those were the only coffee stands open if I wanted coffee past 4 or 5pm for my commute back home.
This week is also the first time I have to call and cancel a client. Job is 40 minutes away and it’s for a very sweet yet frugal lady who only has me do a certain section of her house which comes out to $100 and some change. My list has been so backed up that I can easily make $600+ that day and have many eager clients wanting my service and this poor nice German lady will be my first client to get the axe. Somebody else closer in that area should get the work and it’ll be a win win for all of us.
Anyway, life is good and the sun is out. Hope everybody is prosperous and joyful in their work!
