Student in training on RCL job. Foreman was in control of the box, stopped to close to derail, got a critical. He signed for it, admitted he was in control of the box. They still gave the critical to the student too.
2 days later, student working another RCL job with a switchman. Both switchman and student charged with 2 criticals even though the video showed them doing it correctly. Union rep got the criticals dropped for the switchman. Student got terminated.
Student was a transfer from mechanical dept (4+ years), still held seniority there because he never stopped paying mechanical union dues. Student cannot transfer back to mechanical because he is terminated for breaking critical rules and ineligible for rehire.
Any advice on how to handle the situation and how the student can go back to work in the mechanical dept?
