I am currently a high school senior deciding whether or not to go to tech for mechanical engineering. I was waitlisted but recently invited to a program where I would spend my freshmen year abroad and then attend tech. I’m looking for advice about how important freshmen year was both socially and career wise. I know first-years mostly take gen-ed courses, so the engineering coursework gap might be minor. But I’m more worried about missing early internship recruiting, research, and design teams
