How to best design a component for an Electronic Program Guide?

Hi,

I am trying to build a modern looking EPG table where there are three sections, categories, channels and them lanes with the programs blocks.

I have tried several ways to achieve it but could not achieve a proper UI/UX, either the navigation does not work well (either vertically/horizontally) or the program blocks appear to overlap other components etc…

If you would have to design it, how would you do it?

Upcoming feature in 2.0.6 - Support for Replay / Catch-Up (When providers support it) - See video inside

Hi everyone,

We’re testing a new Replay / Catch-up TV feature in GridStreamr.

When your IPTV provider supports catch-up, you’ll be able to go back and watch previously aired programs directly from the guide instead of missing them completely.

This is still in development, but we’d love to hear what you think:

What would make Replay / Catch-up more useful for you?
Should it be focused around the EPG guide, channel history, search, or all of them?

Feedback is welcome.

Replay / Catch-up Feature coming next…

Our team is currently working hard to onboard the capability of navigating back in time on channels/providers that support this feature.

You will be able to use a progress bar for a quick rewind or navigate to your past programs based on EPG information.

Always improving and moving forward!

A few users have asked why GridStreamr does not offer a lifetime subscription, especially now that more people are discovering the app and enjoying what we are building.

It is a fair question, so we want to answer it clearly.

We do not offer lifetime subscriptions because GridStreamr is not just a one-time app download. It is a platform with ongoing services behind it.

GridStreamr relies on continuous infrastructure, maintenance, and operating costs, including:

- our own worldwide EPG database

- AI processes for channel cleanup, metadata, categorization, logos, and EPG matching

- backend services for feature management such as sharing, linked playlists customization, multi device sync

- our own website, support services, maintenance and active development etc

These things are not free to run. They are not one-time costs. They continue every month.

Offering a lifetime subscription for something that depends on ongoing infrastructure would not be honest or sustainable. It might sound attractive today, but long term it creates the wrong promise: pay once, while the service keeps costing money forever.

We would rather be transparent than sell something that looks good upfront but puts the future of the platform at risk.

Yes, some apps offer lifetime plans. In some cases, that can make sense, especially when the app does not depend heavily on servers, live data, AI processing, EPG systems, cloud sync, or other ongoing services.

But when an app does depend on those things, lifetime pricing usually creates one of two outcomes:

- The app eventually disappears because the business model cannot support the costs.

- The lifetime plan becomes limited, abandoned, or disappointing later because the economics never made sense.

We do not want GridStreamr to become that kind of product.

Our goal is to build a trusted, long-lasting platform for people who genuinely rely on it to organize, enrich, and enjoy their own streaming sources. That means we need a model that allows us to keep improving the app, keep the infrastructure running, keep the EPG updated, keep AI features evolving, and keep supporting users properly.

We understand that subscriptions are not everyone’s favorite model. But for GridStreamr, it is the most honest one.

You are not just paying for access to an app. You are helping keep the platform alive, maintained, updated, and improving.

That is the kind of product we want to build: sustainable, transparent, and trustworthy.

Plus, our pricing today in comparative terms is one of the cheapest and most complete solutions out there!

Hi everyone,

We are working on making GridStreamr as inclusive and broadly accessible as possible.

Our goal is to continue expanding language support so more users can enjoy GridStreamr in a way that feels natural and easy to understand.

Right now, besides the default English version, we are working on:

- Spanish

- German

- French

- Italian

- Portuguese, Portugal

- Portuguese, Brazil

Which languages should we add next?

We are also looking for a couple of beta testers to help us review the new translations and catch any UI issues that may appear because of these changes.

We would especially appreciate feedback on:

- Translation accuracy

- Text that feels unnatural

- Labels or buttons that are too long

- Layout issues

- Missing or unclear wording

Any volunteers who use one of these languages natively or fluently?

Thanks for helping us make GridStreamr better and more accessible for everyone.

If you use IPTV and you are tired of messy playlists, missing guide data, and spending way too much time trying to manually match channels to EPG, GridStreamr 2.0.3 brings a big step forward.

With 2.0.3, GridStreamr AI now also helps with automatic EPG assignments using our worldwide EPG database.

That means GridStreamr is not only helping clean and enrich channel metadata, but can now also intelligently identify which EPG entry best matches a channel and assign it automatically.

This makes guides more complete, more accurate, and much easier to set up, especially when dealing with large or messy playlists.

What this means in practice:

- Better automatic matching between channels and EPG entries

- Less manual work fixing missing or incorrect guide data

- Improved TV guide experience across your playlists

- Smarter handling of noisy, inconsistent, or badly formatted channel names

- More value from our worldwide EPG coverage

GridStreamr is built for users who want more than just a basic player. It helps you manage and organize your own M3U playlists and Xtream Codes sources with a much more polished experience.

Some of the things GridStreamr already helps with:

- AI-powered live channel metadata improvements

- Automatic channel logos and cleaner naming

- Linked Playlists to curate content from one or multiple sources

- Playlist sharing

- Worldwide EPG support

- Beautiful Android TV experience

- Better organization for live TV, movies, and series with TMDB integration

GridStreamr is not a content provider. You bring your own playlists and sources.

This new AI EPG assignment capability is part of our continued push to make playlist management smarter, faster, and much less painful.

There is a lot more behind GridStreamr than this single feature, but 2.0.3 is another important step toward making IPTV management feel modern.

Would love to hear your thoughts, feedback, and feature ideas.

If you already use IPTV apps, you know how messy playlists can get.

Channels come with inconsistent names, missing logos, poor categorization, and little to no useful metadata. That is exactly where we are bringing AI into GridStreamr.

With AI, GridStreamr helps make your playlists much more organized and polished by improving how channels are understood and presented. This includes things like cleaning up messy channel names, identifying what a channel actually is, assigning better categories, and helping match channels to the right metadata such as logos and guide information.

The goal is simple: take the chaos out of large IPTV playlists and turn them into something that feels structured, clean, and much easier to browse.

GridStreamr is not a content provider. It is a powerful IPTV playlist management and player platform that lets you bring your own M3U playlists or Xtream Codes sources and then organize, enrich, curate, and enjoy them in a much better way.

AI is just one part of what GridStreamr does. The platform also includes advanced playlist management, Linked Playlists, EPG support, sharing features, and a beautiful experience across mobile and Android TV.

This is only a fraction of what GridStreamr can do.

See more at www.GridStreamr.com and feel free to ask questions.

Spoiler Alert: 2.0.3 is already in motion and will introduce automatic AI based EPG assignment to our Global Database!!! What much more do you need?

Tell us everything!
