Stuck on what to charge…

Stuck on what to charge…

Hey all, I have been taking pictures of others for basically 2 years now. I only started to charge $40-$60 a shoot this year, but lately I’ve been getting back to back clients and I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed. I typically get a few clients a month, but in the past few days I’ve had 4 and I might have 2 more today (still in the works)

I am based in Hawai’i so it’s pretty expensive, traveling does take a while because the island is so overpopulated, there’s always traffic wherever you go.

I would like to know a recommendation for a baseline of pricing for 30 minute sessions (Mini), 45 minute sessions (Standard), 1-hour session (Deluxe) for Portraits, Couples and Family.

Other photographers in my area seem to be a lot newer than I am, and their photos aren’t the greatest (not saying mines are, because I am still newer) but they charge starting from $100+ and they get booked. Then there are others whose photos look similar to mine, or mines are almost near theirs and are charging $200+. I don’t want to charge that much, because I want to get at least 4-5 years of experience before even thinking charging hundreds and hundreds of dollars..

Any tips is appreciated, my style of editing is bright and vibrant colors, and sort of creamy.

What should I start charging?

I have been taking pictures of others for almost 2 years now. I only recently started charging $40-$60+ a shoot.

Lately I’ve been getting a lot of clients, and I’m starting to feel overwhelmed. I had 4 back to back clients in the past few days… Usually I get a few a month, but now people are starting to book more. I might have 2 more clients tomorrow! I’m finding myself feeling overwhelmed, I’ve only finished one gallery so far but I rushed it and got it back to them within 24 hours. I do find myself spending all day editing because I take my time and I don’t like distractions so I will remove every piece of trash or person in picture… I also know people charge an expedited delivery fee, and mileage. add ons etc. I’m based in Hawai’i so it’s pretty expensive here. I’m still a newer photographer, I was wondering what you guys think to charge. I see others charging a lot more than I am, and my pictures are nearly the same as them or even better in my opinion (not to sound cocky).

I’m thinking of doing the following packages for: Portraits, Couple, Family… Mini (30 mins), Standard (45 mins), 1-hour (Deluxe)

Just need some recommendations on what to base my pricing on! Thank you.

How much should I charge?

Hello!

I have been taking pictures for about 2 years now with my Nikon D3500 with an 18-55mm lens. I did a handful of free shoots to practice, and then began to charge $40. I was told to increase my prices, and I have been thinking about it immensely. I am going to be buying a better lens next week, and I think by then I’ll increase my prices. How much do you all think I should charge based on my work

New lens for nikon d3500

Hey everyone!

I have been shooting with a nikon D3500 with the beginner lens 18-55mm — I think it’s time for a better lens.

I don’t want to upgrade to a better camera just yet until I’ve fully mastered my D3500.

Which lens do you all recommend?
