What updates would you make? Colnago & fixie overhaul
Had hurt some discs in my neck and was resigned to riding my e-bike only. Finally have built up some strength and saved a bit and I’d love to do some updates to my 6ku urban track fixed gear and this cool vintage Colnago I scored from a closing sale.
Bike newb looking for tips on what you’d update?
6ku fixie, thinking about:
- Love the frame for a cheap bike, ready to swap everything else!
- more comfortable seat, stole this off my globe haul where I have a carved brooks flyer.
- running 28c gravelkings on the wheels maybe
- adding straps for the pedals
- slightly different angle riser bars, more mtb style
- more comfortable grips
- removing the back brake
For the Colnago, thinking about:
- would it be insane to put gravelkings on these wheels?? Or even switch the wheels onto the fixie?
- switching to a mtb style flat bar (my wife will be riding this and prefers comfort and stability)
- no idea how to go about finding a compatible shifter for this set? Or if I should start all new?
Looking to end up with a tracklocross-ish and a gravel-ish bike. My driveway has a few hundred feet of gravel I have to deal with to start and end my rides which is sketch on cheap slick 700x26c’s. Otherwise ride mostly urban paved trails that have occasional stretches of hard pack dirt, small gravel, and decomposed granite, so not riding true miles and miles of gravel, just trying to add some grip for when I have to run across stretches of looser terrain every quarter of a mile or so.
