Wk 7 R3 Town run round the river!

Phewww! Right now I’m sat in my car after driving to town, parking up and chuffing my way round the river, docks, weir, basin etc. Last time I tried this I was in week 3 I think and walked most of it (felt a bit disheartened by it honestly!) However TODAY I actually RAN the whole thing!!! Me!! Obvs I’m a very slow beginner runner still but I never imagined I would be able to make it the whole way without walking. Now it’s only 4.22km which shocked me as that’s my usual length when I’m in my village over the hills and fields, but to me that’s a long ass way! I took it steady and my breathing was strong but not out of puff, the scenery made the whole run go quite quickly, I was passed by many amazing machine runners and had an enthusiastic spaniel jump up and paw punch me in the thigh but he was cute so I forgave him instantly. Anyway, I’m sweating but exhilarated and am sipping on a coffee from one of my favourite shops, time to drive back home and tell my 28yr old athletic son all about it 🤣💪🏻🙏🏻💕

Wk 7 R2 I’m flyyyyyinnn’!

Well, not exactly flying but Strava tells me I did my fastest run yet ☺️ This morning I saw a muntjac deer AND a hare so felt very at one with nature whilst I hoofed it over the fields. Today my run actually felt GOOD and I acknowledged this whilst running. My breathing felt steady and rhythmical and I was shocked when Steve Cram told me it was halfway round already. If you knew me, you wouldn’t believe I’ve been out running for the past seven weeks, but here I am and Steve also told me I could officially call myself a runner today and if I had any body fluid to spare I’m sure I would’ve shed a tear! One little niggle is my lower back is a bit achy this past week so I’m going to try and up my lower back strengthening exercises between runs. Happy Wednesday everyone! 🥰

Wk 7 R1 Ooooof!

I tried out another different-ish route today. I’ve decided tackling the steep hill elevation at the beginning of my run is something I want to keep in, then from there I switcherooed to a little road running and then rejoin the hills. I do not like cars I’ve also decided! The run itself was of course challenging BUT trying to figure out where I was going kinda took over from wondering how long I’d been running for or how much was left (I have zero sense of direction so I have to concentrate hard!) I was so focussed and engrossed I forgot to take a selfie, so here’s one of me after at home when I remembered! 🤣
