Hello everyone! I have had two Amazon Milk frogs for about 5 years. Today I found another one of them dead. I noticed yesterday that I wasn't able to see that one in the terrarium, but I wasn't too concerned because sometimes they are just hidden behind foliage or something (Bioactive setup). Today I did a search and found her dead on the bottom of the terrarium. The other one seems healthy and is out and about now in the evening. I include a picture of her, my now only frog Taateli. 😭
The death of the other one worries me a little, can it be some hidden illness? She has always been a smaller one. Over the winter both of them ate less, even still this month only about one bug per meal, but the smaller frog alway ate less than the other. I tong feed them so ko foght or anything over food happened. What is normal for Amazon milk frog adults of age around five years to eat at once, or in a week? My normal feeder has been crickets with calcium powder and vitamin, occassionally other buhs. At some point last year I consulted a vet about the smaller frog and her eating less than the friend, but the vet didn't have much to say and recommended adding multivitamin regularly.
Can 5 year old be considered old and die "of old age"? Should I do something for my bioactive terrarium if the dead frog was there for over a day? Need to empty and wash or just take put whayt can be washed and that's it? At least the dairy cow ispopods had not yet started to munch thr body, so hard to say how long the frog was dead before I removed it. Anything I should do for the alive frog for now? 🤔 Can it be happy alone? I think tho she doesn't seem to care that friend is lost, it is just more sad for me. 🥲
