Need help with career growth – feeling stuck and lost ?

Hi everyone,

I really need some honest advice.

I’m currently working as a frontend developer (Three.js) with 1.8 years of experience in Mumbai. My salary is 34k/month, and I’m only able to save around 9k. Financially, my family depends on me, which adds pressure.

The problem is—I don’t like my job. I want to switch to a data engineer role and aim for at least 8–9 LPA. I’ve learned some basics, but I’m not consistent at all. I feel distracted most of the time.

I’ve been dealing with stress and low mood for a while, and I’ve also developed a habit of watching porn and masturbating frequently, which I feel is affecting my focus and energy. I struggle to sit and study, even though I know I need to.

Honestly, this isn’t new—I’ve felt like I’ve been struggling with studies and focus since school. I want to become successful and improve my life, but I just don’t feel motivated or interested in anything.

I feel stuck between responsibilities and lack of discipline.

What I need help with:

How do I build focus and consistency in this situation?

Should I continue aiming for data engineering or rethink my path?

How do I manage stress and distractions while supporting my family?

Has anyone been in a similar situation and turned things around?

Any practical advice or real experiences would really help.

Thank you 🙏
