Is it safe to charge my laptop, how important was this metal thing that just came loose
Hello everyone, I hope this is the correct flair.
I need some help regarding my laptops charger, I’m attaching images to make it easier to understand. Basically a few days ago I noticed that something was blocking my charging pin when I tried to insert it and when I looked closely at the port with a light, I saw a flat piece of metal partially wrapped around it, I took a needle and I was able to push it away from the pin and the charger plugged in again. After that I didn’t really remove the charger from the laptop and instead removed it from switch when needed, it was inconvenient but whatever at least my laptop was charging.
Today my mother removed the charger from the laptop and I was trying the whole needle thing again and thats when I noticed that this piece of metal is supposed to be flat (it’s supposed to sit in the indent I circled with red in the image) but got wot wrapped around so I took a tweezers and tried to unwrap it, I was able to push the metal plate thing away from the charging pin but as I was trying to flatten it, it just came loose and I dont know what to do now, the charger is plugging in smoothly but I am honestly scared to turn the switch on. Does anyone have any advice on what this plate it and can I get away with charging my laptop without any issues if I don’t fix it back?
Laptop is Asus TUF FX504.
