Lavender I bought for my mom already dying?

Hey there, noob here. I bought my mom a small round metal tin of lavender - it looked really pretty. I read that they need lots of sunlight and to be careful watering it.

So I put it in my west facing windowsill - where it has gotten a nice amount of direct sunlight over the past 5 days since I got it.

The soil is EXTREMELY dry and almost like in seperate dense blocks. it doesnt look or feel right down there. I havent watered it at all.

Today i got home from work and saw almost all of the flowers are already drooping to the side. What could have went wrong here? Should I water? try to fix the soul? It feels bare in the middle, and soil is just packed along the edges. Did it get too much sun? Thanks for any and all help! I feel so bad when these guys start hurting.

"Cling On" Anastasia Ficus Benjamina growing white spots!! Please help!

Sorry I didnt mean to add that blurry first pic. Hello, I am wondering whats going on with my Ficus Benjamina. I just got it a few days ago but since then it seems to have developed some white spots on a few leaves that are concerning me.

Its gotten filtered light near a west facing window, shades are slightly open

I have not watered it yet - the top of the soil is still wet to the touch from when I bought it (Sunday) So i figured i didnt need to water it.

Also I am noticing some leaves curling and turning brown at the tips

I hope I didnt get in over my head with this one, i am new to this.

Any ideas what could be wrong and what I can do to help this thing? its so pretty? Please help! thank you!
