Recently there was a post on the CL-40 it's Splash/AoE by a user venting about it. There's a good portion in the comments that were just hating on it.
Why do we have to always DOG on a weapon? CL-40 still get's hate while its OBJECTIVELY the worst ranged weapon medium has. It just gets less hate now.
If you hate CL-40 it just means you don't know how to counter it. CL-40 is FUNDAMENTALLY a worse weapon in combat than any other hit-scan weapon the medium has in it's arsenal.
CL-40 IS PROJECTILE. Play against it as such.
The reason why people hate CL-40 in higher RS lobbies is cause it's loud with explosions in your face. Not because it's "good" or a "noobtube". Cause they are able to defeat is easily.
I usually have to switch off CL-40 to FCAR cause FCAR is just way more reliable, easier to kill with and has no self damage. Why do I play CL-40 then? CAUSE IT'S FUN
The biggest reason why CL-40 is how it is today is cause of the vastly different game modes, gadgets (and hate). You have to balance for Point Break, Powershit and cashout. And cause it has Splash/AoE it's hard to balance for this. Do you want it to be a direct hit blaster or a splash pea shooter?
I don't want changes to the speed/trajectory of the projectile, i don't want dumb buffs to the splash. I just want something FUN. And that doesn't mean it needs to be overpowered. Just ... balanced. The best way to describe CL-40 is that its the light Bow but it traded headshot multiplier for splash, less damage and slower projectile but no wind-up.
CL-40 is not a godlike weapon and in this current state very easily counter-able. I do not understand what Embark wants with the CL-40.
