I'm taking the first steps into content creation, and it's all honestly very confusing and intimidating. For now, I'm looking to record gameplay from my PS5. I have the Elgato 4K S, and it's working great so far. My issue and the advice I'm looking for is how to best record decently high-quality videos while keeping file size manageable.

I recently recorded about 50 minutes of Spider-Man 2 gameplay at 4K resolution through Elgato Studio, and the file size is 48.4 GB. That's bigger than I'd like, or maybe that's normal. I usually play games for a few hours, and I'd like to record everything for Let's Play content. I'm worried then that I'll have recordings that are hundreds of GBs. I'm also confused on if I should be recording through Elgato Studio or OBS. Is one option better or preferred? Could one get me lower file sizes? I'm personally more familiar with OBS currently. I'd also like my recordings to at least be 1080p; I don't need 4K.

If anyone could help with deciding how to record and at what specs (encoder and encoder settings, for example), I'd really appreciate it. For reference, I work on a PowerSpec G758 Gaming PC. Sorry if this is a lot, but any advice would be great. Thanks!
