I have 7+ YOE in C++ in F500 product companies. I've been unemployed for 10 months now and a month ago I was reached out by a recruiter from Happiest Minds/PureSoftware.I only had one technical round. I didn't do very well in it but was told I'd be moving to the next round. Then there was a one month delay. The recruiter reached again and said the next round was a business round. The client was from an insurance company. The interview was mostly about checking my experience in insurance domain and then there were a couple questions about whether I'm okay with working in a new domain and if I'd be able to take the user requirements and code accoridng to it - which felt weird to ask a senior dev about.

Post that, they asked to have the HR round within a day and a couple hours later they said I was selected.

Within the next day, they asked me to upload all the necessary documents (PAN, AADHAR, Last company's info, KYC details including bank account and UAN) and here is where I started to get really concerned. They said I had to upload everything within 5 PM so that they can release the offer letter by 6 PM and if iI can't do it by then the offer will be reneged. I asked if I can give the KYC and UAN after I join and they were against it.

Now the package they were offering is slightly more than my previous job and it's completely remote, which is kinda why I considered the job in the first place. But the singular technical round, the weird business round, and the rushing of important documents, and the offer deadline within the same day kinda made me really concerned about moving forward and so I declined the offer. On the portal where they asked to upload the documents, there was the HappiestMinds logo but when I clicked on it, it didn't take me to the website because there was a type in the URL (not the company name, just the URL). Maybe I was being paranoid but it felt like another red flag.

I'm still a bit unsure if I did the right thing and asked the recruiter if I can take some time before I upload the documents and she said I can't and that she'll be proceeding with other candidates. The whole 'do it by 6 PM or the offer won't stand' kinda ruined it for me but I'm also wondering if I did the right thing. I'm scared about the employment gap but I can't really continue with an offer while noticing so many red flags.

Edit: Forgot to add - the recruiter asked me to speak to her manager which felt even weirder. Like how many times do you see a recruiter asking you to meet with their manager. What's even the point?

Edit 2: So I spoke to the recruiter's manager and asked to meet in-person the HR team and any technical team she's worked with. She said she'll arrange a meeting tomorrow at the office. Also said I can review the offer before sending KYC docs. I guess I'll have more information tomorrow.
