I am not a car enthusiast, but I do drive a lot of different cars. I have been behind the wheel of around 40 different models over the years, and I currently own a Škoda Karoq.
Recently rented a Peugeot 3008 (a very new one and mileage is just around 4000km) for the first time, and honestly, I was impressed — the i-Cockpit design is gorgeous, the interior feels premium, and the overall package is really appealing.
But that steering wheel nearly broke me.
I have never felt so uncomfortable driving on country roads in my life. The steering is so small and hyper-sensitive that at 100 km/h, I was genuinely worried about clipping oncoming traffic. I ended up crawling at 70–80 km/h to feel safe (many behind me were honking). After about 100 km, I turned around and returned the car to the rental company (actually I took it for 2 days).
For context, one of the best steering wheels I have driven is the VW Tiguan - confidence, precise, natural feel, just works. The 3008 felt like the polar opposite.
So my question to actual 3008 owners — how do you cope with it? Does it get better with time, or did you adjust your driving style? I genuinely want to buy one, but it’s hands down the worst steering wheel I’ve ever felt — and right now that’s a dealbreaker.
