Bubbles started preening Beethoven today. I would love for them to be friends but I DO NOT want them to mate. We don’t need anymore captive parrots in the world and I’m not willing to risk my female’s health. Should I nip this in the bud immediately or is it innocent for now?

Note: We provide them separate cages in different parts of the house, allow them plenty of sleep, do not pet anywhere but head & neck & provide no nesting spots. The only time they interact is when I’m with them, but I don’t know if that’s enough to prevent mating.

Beethoven should really be the one bathing but he’s a messy boy

Even though parrots don’t have much sexual dimorphism I think my female u2 has a much more feminine and sleek look. I love these two they’re so silly
