So I am a recent graduate and working at a health insurance org as an intern. I got to know I will be converted to full time starting next month but the job is on Mainframes tech. I knew I was getting into mainframes before I gave the interview, but I was desperate for a job. My manager doesn't want me to switch to another domain but is fine with me participating in internal hackathons and work on POC projects, but nothing very serious. I have no intentions of making a career in this domain and want to switch the tech.
I have thought about switching jobs but the market for freshers isn't the best right now so I thought of getting experience here before making the switch. Or I could try making an internal switch but as I said earlier, my manager isn't willing to do that. I am waiting to have a conversation with him to see what can be done, but asking for favors with my current position is going to not go my way most probably.
What should I do?
