How many people in America still believe in Christianity?

Recently I've been writing a novel which might includes America. But I have trouble about how to describe the importance of Christianity in America. Is that still a thing for the most? Is there a huge difference between groups like old & young or Liberals & Conservative. For those believers, r they sincere believers or more like Modernists.
thx for answering my questions. Love from China.
